To be honest, I think potatoes are the perfect food. No matter what you do with them, they always go well with every dinner, and practically everyone loves them, so you can't go wrong even with picky eaters!
But, what really completes the ideal potato side dish is the seasoning. My seasoning for potatoes uses a blend of salt, brown sugar, paprika, thyme, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and cumin for perfectly seasoned potatoes you are sure to love.
Try it over roasted small potatoes, potatoes on the grill, or potatoes in the air fryer. You can even use it to bake potatoes in foil. No matter your preference for cooking potatoes, this blend of spices is all you need to make an easy side dish completely delicious!

Potato Seasoning Ingredients
- salt
- brown sugar
- paprika
- dried thyme
- black pepper
- onion powder
- garlic powder
- ground cumin

How to Season Potatoes
- Mix salt, brown sugar, paprika, dried thyme, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and ground cumin thoroughly in a small bowl.
- Cut potatoes and add them to a large mixing bowl. Season with potato seasoning and toss until all potatoes are fully coated. Depending on the recipe, toss with olive oil in addition to the seasoning.
- Cook potatoes according to your preferred potato recipe.

Tips for Seasoning Potatoes
- This seasoning can be used for all different kinds of potatoes. I personally love Yukon Gold potatoes, but it works for russet potatoes, red potatoes, small potatoes... the list goes on!
- For a bit of fresh green and a nice contrast to this savory-sweet seasoning, add some freshly chopped parsley after cooking. Other fresh herbs like a bit of extra thyme or rosemary also work well.
