Chunky Guacamole Recipe
Without a doubt, every weekend, you'll find me picking up fresh avocados from the grocery store to have on hand during the week. I'm either preparing easy avocado toast for breakfast or making my favorite chunky guacamole recipe!
Seriously though, is there a such thing as having too many avocados around? Not at my house- we're big avocado lovers over here! Homemade guacamole is one of those recipes you know everyone is going to love and get excited for.
Even though it's so easy to make, this chunky guacamole recipe still feels so extravagant and indulgent - every single time!
This is my go-to guacamole recipe for salads, burrito bowls, tacos, or simply as a side with some tortilla chips. Trust me, it's a game-changer!

Chunky Guacamole Ingredients
- Ripe Avocados
- Corn Kernels
- Red Onion
- Grape Tomatoes
- Jalapeño
- Cilantro
- Lime Juice
- Red Pepper Flakes
- Salt

How to Make Chunky Guacamole
- Carefully chop up avocados, red onions, tomatoes, and fresh cilantro. Remove the seeds from the jalapeño pepper and mince the pepper.
- Add everything to a large bowl with corn kernels, lime juice, red pepper flakes, and sea salt. Mix to combine thoroughly.
Avocado Dip Tips
- Ripe avocados: It's so important to use perfectly ripe avocados for the best flavor and texture. Your avocados should give a little when gently squeezed.
- Control the heat: If you like the spice of jalapenos, you can add more or even use serrano peppers instead, which are spicier. But, if you'd like it to be less spicy, use less or leave out the peppers altogether!
- Chunky texture: For chunky guacamole, don't mash your avocados with a fork! Simply cut your avocados into square cubes and gently "mix" with remaining ingredients.
- Fresh ingredients: Use the freshest ingredients for the best taste and color. Chopped tomatoes, freshly shaved corn, red onion, cilantro, and jalapeños are the best in this chunky avocado salsa recipe. I also love to add fresh lime juice. If you like garlic, you can add a little garlic, too - but you might want to pan-fry it first so it's not raw!
How to Pick a Good Avocado
Choosing a ripe avocado is so much easier than it may seem! Look for avocados that are a brownish color and feel slightly soft when gently squeezed. Avoid any avocados that are too firm to the touch or overly soft.
How to Ripen Avocados
If you need to speed up the ripening process, place any firm avocados in a paper bag on the counter overnight - even better if you have an apple or banana to place in the bag too. Once ripe, place avocados in the fridge to slow down further ripening!
Chunky Guacamole Recipe FAQs
Stop guacamole from turning brown by covering the surface of your guacamole with plastic wrap, pressing down gently to create a seal, minimizing exposure to the air. Toss in the refrigerator until ready to serve again!
Guacamole can be made in various textures, and whether it's chunky or smooth all depends on personal preference.
