Air Fryer Roasted Carrots
Growing up, I was not a fan of carrots. No amount of pretending I was Bugs Bunny would change how much I despised the taste of them, much to the dismay of my mom. So when I had kids of my own, I was determined to find a way to cook carrots that they would love.
As it turns out, it was all about keeping it simple! Roasting carrots turns them butter-soft and enhances their natural sweetness, while just a little olive oil and salt balances the whole dish out. The only problem was the long cook time- and then came the air fryer!
It's never been easier to make carrots delicious! These are the best air fryer carrots I've ever tried, cooking to perfect tenderness and done in a matter of minutes! Trust me, once you've tried carrots in the air fryer, you'll be having them for every meal.

Air Fried Carrots Ingredients

- Spread out the coated carrots in the air fryer basket.
- Cook at 400°F for 12 minutes, turning the carrots halfway through. Adjust cooking time for thinner cut carrots.

Roasted Carrots in Air Fryer Tips
- This recipe will cook even full-size carrots through entirely, but feel free to cut your carrots into your preferred serving size! Just lower the cook time accordingly for smaller carrot pieces.
- The cook time is extra flexible according to how you like your carrots. For a carrot with a little crunch left, follow this recipe's time. If you like your carrots extra butter soft, cook for another 3-5 minutes!
- To save some time, don't be afraid to skip peeling the carrots! I love the rustic look of unpeeled carrots and the added texture. Just be sure to wash them well!
- For an even faster recipe, use baby carrots. Just keep in mind that the wide variety of thicknesses in baby carrots can lead to slightly uneven cooking, so keep an eye on the smaller pieces.
- This recipe is perfect for customizing! I never need more than just salt and pepper, but try adding garlic and Parmesan or a dash of honey and brown sugar for extra flavor!
Air Fryer Roasted Carrots FAQs
Peeling carrots before roasting is optional, and up to taste! For roasting in the oven and air fryer, peeling the carrots will give them a more uniform look and texture, but will not have an impact on how the carrots cook. If you're short on time, skip peeling!
How long to cook carrots in the air fryer depends on the size and thickness of the carrots, but for full-size carrots, 12 minutes at 400°F will fully cook them while still retaining some crunch. For smaller carrots, lower the cook time, while for softer carrots, add 3-5 minutes to the cook time.
Cooking carrots in the air fryer is exactly like roasting them in the oven, but faster! Air fryers are essentially countertop convection ovens, so whatever cooks in the oven will cook in an air fryer too. Cook carrots in the air fryer for 12 minutes at 400°F for perfectly fork-tender carrots.
Peeling a carrot will ensure a uniform texture and cleaner look. Leaving it on will give the dish a more rustic, home-grown look, and adds an extra chew. I was raised on peeled carrots, but there are plenty of instances where it's completely optional. For roasted carrots, I love the extra chew of peel-on carrots!
