Brussels Sprouts Air Fryer Ingredients
- Brussels sprouts
- Panko breadcrumbs
- Paprika
- Turmeric
- Cumin
- Olive oil
- Maple syrup
The neutral earthy flavor of brussels sprouts means they pair very well with spicy and sweet flavors like sriracha and maple syrup. For this recipe, I use a mix of maple syrup with a savory panko breadcrumb coating.
How to Air Fry Brussels Sprouts
- Mix panko breadcrumbs with paprika, cumin, and turmeric in a bowl.
- Chop brussels sprouts in half. Add to a separate bowl with olive oil and maple syrup. Mix to coat the sprouts.
- Add the breadcrumb mixture to the bowl with the brussels sprouts and stir until all sprouts are coated well.
- Evenly spread the sprouts in your air fryer tray or basket, being careful not to overcrowd your air fryer.
- Air fry at 360°F for 8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. Cook in batches as necessary to avoid overcrowding the fryer.
Crispy Brussels Sprouts Tips
- Try varying the seasoning! You can use honey and sriracha to make sweet-and-spicy brussels sprouts, red pepper and parmesan for a spicy kick with crisp cheese, or simply use olive oil and sea salt if you like a subtle natural flavor.
- It's important not to overcrowd your air fryer so the sprouts cook correctly. Make sure none of them are overlapping in the basket or tray.
- You can preheat the air fryer, but it isn't necessary for this recipe. The sprouts will come out crisp even if you do not preheat it.
Brussels Sprouts in Air Fryer FAQs
If your brussels sprouts burn in the air fryer, you may need to shake the basket half-way through the cook time. I recommend shaking the basket to avoid the sprouts having any chance of burning.
360°F to 375°F is the perfect range in temperature to cook crispy air fryer brussels sprouts. For this recipe, I opted to cook mine at 360°F and the result is tender but crispy sprouts.
You do not need to soak brussels sprouts before cooking them, but you should wash them. Peel away outer browned or damaged leaves and trim off the hard bottoms.
